Kin Jewelry Background
Kin Jewellery was originally founded in 2016 under the name Lovell Sixteen by Fion Chee, a third-generation goldsmith with a deep-rooted passion for jewellery design and heritage. In 2022, after branding expert Victor joined the company, the brand was officially rebranded as Kin Jewellery to reflect its renewed vision and direction.
The idea behind Kin Jewellery started when Fion observed a unique opportunity in the local market. Despite Penang, Malaysia, being home to some of the most reputable gold jewellery factories that export to countries like Singapore, Brunei, and Dubai, these exquisite export-only designs were rarely available to Malaysian consumers. Most jewellery sold locally remained basic and traditional in style.
Fion envisioned bringing these high-quality, fashionable export designs to the Malaysian market. However, convincing the factories to produce smaller quantities for local sales was a challenge — bulk production was costly, and initial capital was limited. After much persistence and negotiation, Lovell Sixteen managed to collaborate with several factories, though the cost was high. To sustain the business, Fion had to mix in silver jewellery while keeping her full-time job, as funding constraints prevented her from focusing solely on the business.
The turning point came in 2022, when Victor joined the team. With his experience in branding and media, and Fion’s deep industry expertise, the two committed full-time to grow the company. From then on, Kin Jewellery focused entirely on gold jewellery, specifically lightweight and modern designs that are stylish, elegant, and accessible.
At Kin Jewellery, we believe that gold should not be just a luxury item — it should be fashionable, meaningful, and attainable. Our mission is to create jewellery that carries value and beauty — pieces that look noble, yet are priced affordably for everyone. We aim to offer customers the best of both worlds: elegant gold jewellery that enhances personal style while also serving as a smart investment.
